Park and Fly.

The location is perfect. With its dimensions of 125 x 165 metres and a height of 21 metres, the multi-storey car park stands conspicuously beside the access road to Hamburg Airport. At the same time it borders directly - both in location and height - onto the security zones set aside for flight operations. Thus, visitors and passengers can quickly reach the terminals from the car park on foot.

The ground plan of the five-storey car park with its six parking levels describes an equilateral triangle with rounded corners. This shape offers an optimum relationship between the use of space and the number of parking bays. The parking levels are conveniently reached via two internal spiral access roads. These also extend above the uppermost parking level, creating a small extra sixth storey for pedestrians - a real Eldorado for plane spotters.

The structure consists of pre-fabricated reinforced concrete elements in association with bracing floor slabs and vertical steel lattice frameworks. In spite of its large dimensions, the structure was designed in such a way that it could be seamlessly inserted into the existing parking and roadway areas. The form of construction enhances its usage quality and reduces the running costs of the car park.
