The River Elbe within arm's reach.
Securely founded on the Polder, the flood protection structure on the shore of the River Elbe in Neumühlen, the five-storey office building with two wings reaches out towards the river. The facade surfaces are glazed throughout.
While outwardly an eye-catcher, the building also impresses with internal features that make it a good place to be in. Wide open spaces create transparency and brightness. Heating, cooling and ventilation pipes are integrated into the rough ceilings. In the generous, five-storey entrance hall, oval stair and lift towers are accessible via suspended gallery bridges.
The four upper storeys project for c. 10 m over the edge of the Polder. The wide projection was achieved with sloping composite steel pillars which discreetly give the structure its own special character. These pillars run slantwise from the edge of the Polder through the upper storeys to the outer edge of the roof. The floor slabs below are suspended from this.
