Bore piles in confined space.

27.06.2025 – Deep foundation work has begun on the railway bridge over Anckelmannsplatz.

For the later installation of six auxiliary railway bridges, temporary yokes with deep foundations are being erected in the roadway area. To ensure that trains can then pass safely over the auxiliary bridges, large bore piles with a length of almost 20 metres are being installed – under extreme conditions. The bore piles must be constructed under the existing bridge – with a clearance height of less than 5 metres in some places – and must pass through obstacles such as old sewers and wooden piles. A hydraulic piping machine attached to a cable excavator is used for this purpose. The piping is pressed into the ground piece by piece and excavated. The reinforcement cages for the piles must therefore be installed in small sections and completely joined together with screw couplings every 1.5 metres.

A massive effort, but it keeps the trains running!
