Addition and revitalisation.

The Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kontor office block has stood at a prominent location on Axel-Springer-Platz in Hamburg’s inner city since 2007. It was erected in the 1950s. Modernisation was necessary to meet today’s requirements for an office and commercial building.

The previous two-storey penthouse level has been completely removed. To replace it, a two-storey addition has been built in composite steel construction with  technical rooms above.

The bracing of the building has been completely restructured. At its heart, a new, bracing stairwell core has been created. At the same time, the area around the former stairwell on the edge of the building was reconstructed. Here, two new glass-sided elevators now offer an impressive invitation to enjoy the view.

The massive interventions in the existing building also required extensive planning of the building conditions.

Today in Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kontor, the new and the old produce a successful unity. Both aspects are now up-to-date and well equipped for their future role.

Back in the limelight.
