New surface for the Elbe Bridges.

The New Elbe Bridges along the course of the B4 road are used by more than 100,000 vehicles per day.

As part of the reconstruction of Billhorner Brückenstraße, corrosion protections, sealings and coverings were completely renewed on eight road bridges over a total surface area of 14,000 m².

For this purpose, on the reinforced concrete bridges the deck layers were milled off and new deck heights were produced by means of profile adjustments and a new deck layer. On the steel bridges the old coverings were completely removed and newly produced.

Special challenges arose from the altered longitudinal and transverse gradients of the asphalt coverings, great differences in temperature during the laying of the asphalt, complex traffic management to ensure the continued flow of road traffic, and many other things.

Now that the highly complex building measures have been executed, entirely under normal traffic conditions, the traffic can once again run smoothly over the northern arm of the Elbe.
