Part of a lively neighbourhood.

It is really a very special project for the planning engineer when all concerned share the same name: the building owner and project developer, the user of the office space, the executing construction company, and even the building itself, are all "Hochtief".

But the main planning issues in Quarter 21 in Hamburg Barmbek were rather the design and structural engineering challenges of adding high-quality new buildings to the venerable ensemble of pavilion structures – protected as historical monuments – on the parkland belonging to the former Barmbek Hospital.

The new Hochtief-Haus was intended to become part of a lively neighbourhood as a modern office and commercial building that unites work, living and leisure. Its structure is designed as a sleek reinforced concrete skeleton tailored to the desired structural form and its planned uses.

In Barmbek, a historic district of Hamburg has awakened to new life. It is a neighbourhood with a history and a great future. And that is what we wish the residents of the Hochtief-Haus.

An artistic insertion.
