Solidly founded.

First labyrinth weir in Germany continues to ‘grow’.

04.06.2025 - The construction work for the new weir structure in Schorfheide continues to progress. Following the completion of the underwater concrete base, the draining of the excavation pit and the laying of the reinforcement for the base slab, it has now been concreted in sections.

The weir pillars and labyrinth walls are then constructed.

We have concluded the structural engineering review of the design documents necessary for this. So the first labyrinth weir in Germany can continue to “grow”.

An ensemble of three labyrinth weirs is being built to replace the existing and ageing weir structures at the barrages in Schorfheide, Zaaren and Regow. Compared to conventional weirs, labyrinth weirs can significantly increase the discharge capacity with the same clearance width. This type of weir is familiar in the USA and is now being built in Germany for the first time.
