21.06.2024 – Construction work on the remediation of the Neumühlen quay wall begins.
The jack-up platform "Simone" was brought to its deployment site by two tugs and accompanied by a pilot boat. It was warmly welcomed by many project participants and onlookers. The jack-up platform, around 73 metres long and 24 metres wide, equipped with drilling equipment and a large cable dredger, offers a spectacular sight in front of the so-called "Hamburg string of pearls".
The existing sheet pile wall had deformed considerably by more than 1.5 metres over the years and had to be secured in the meantime by several emergency securing measures. Due to the complex constraints in the exposed location, intensive planning was necessary. The remediation is now being carried out with a retaining wall consisting of a combined tubular sheet pile wall, reinforced concrete struts and back-anchoring with micro grouting piles.
After a short scaffolding period, "Simone" will start work in the coming days.
