Shining in its new facade.
Following the comprehensive refurbishment of the outdated building, the students of the Hamburg University of Music and Drama (HfMT - Hochschule für Musik und Theater) moved back from their temporary replacement quarters in City Nord to their traditional home on the Outer Alster.
Here they found completely new teaching and practice rooms fitted with the latest and most modern equipment. In addition, to provide an especially fine backdrop for the new musical performances, the stage equipment in the large auditorium was extensively renewed.
But it is not only from within that the building shines in a new splendour. On its exterior too, the whole facade has been renewed in a modern, shimmering white.
During the reconstruction works, the unusual building revealed a multitude of surprises – a challenge for all those involved in the planning and construction sequence.
Now that the work is finished, the protected and comprehensively renovated building invites its teachers, staff and students to intensive contention with music and theatre, and all its visitors to the enjoyment of artistic endeavour.
