23.06.2026 - The “Architecture and Civil Engineering Day 2026” in Hamburg will take place on 28 and 29 June. We invite anyone interested to come and see the ongoing renovation work through the eyes of the planning team.
What is happening on this building site? The approximately 140-year-old quay walls at Kehrwiederspitze in Hamburg form an important link between the city centre, the Speicherstadt and HafenCity. The existing listed structure, comprising heavy masonry walls on wooden piles, is showing signs of age-related damage. Depending on the section, the plans include new land-side structures with back-anchored bored pile walls, as well as load-relief and reinforcement measures using deep-founded shield plates, to ensure long-term structural stability.
Our guided tours start on Sunday 28 June at 10.00 am, 11.00 am and 1.00 pm. Meeting point: Kehrwiederspitze, by the hoarding in front of the police station. Anyone interested is very welcome.
