Structural work completed.

Conversion work under special conditions.

03.11.2023 - The structural work on the Schwerin Art Museum has been completed. The historic museum building, located directly on Lake Schwerin, is being fitted out for the requirements of modern museum operations. The building is also part of Schwerin's bid to become a World Heritage Site.

Built by the architect Hermann Willebrand as a pupil of Friedrich August Stüler, the museum was fully in line with the social, architectural and technical developments of the time, not only in terms of museum organisation but also in the execution of the supporting structure. The current planned conversion involved numerous interventions in the structure. In addition, damage found in the supporting structure had to be repaired, taking the requirements for the preservation of historical monuments into account.

Even after completion of the structural work, extensive work on the ceiling and wall surfaces is still pending before the reopening of the museum in 2025.
