Building work at Hamburg State Opera will be completed on time.
30.08.2024 – Not only the Laeiszhalle, but also the Hamburg State Opera (Staatsoper) is using the performance-free holiday period to tackle necessary renovation work on the existing building, particularly with a view to current fire protection requirements and upgrading of the highly complex building services, lighting and sound equipment, and last but not least, the general stage equipment.
The time available to complete all the planned works, from mid-July to mid-September, is extremely short. All planners face day-to-day challenges: “Here again, things look different in the actual building than in the plans!” To overcome these, strong nerves are required and, of course, a high degree of decision-making competence among all those involved in order to find solutions to technical issues at short notice.
But by the time the season opens in September, everything will be spotless again.
