Steel instead of wood: New Dove-Elbe Bridges Completed.

18.06.2026 - The Dove-Elbe Regatta Centre now has two new pedestrian bridges made of modern steel. The old wooden structures were replaced in late May and early June. What made this project special was that operations at the Regatta Centre continued as normal. Despite time pressure and challenging conditions, the new bridges fit the old footprint perfectly and are already open to pedestrians and cyclists.

Modern and forward-looking through the use of the BIM methodology: The design process was carried out directly on a digital model. From conceptual and detailed design through construction planning and coordination, numerous tasks were implemented using a model-based approach, while construction progress was digitally recorded. Now that everything is complete, the data is being transferred into a final model. This creates a ‘digital twin’ of the bridges, which will support the future operation and management. A big thank you goes to Landesbetrieb Straßen, Brücken und Gewässer (LSBG) and Peters Bau for their excellent and collaborative partnership on this successful project.
