22.05.2025 - The 5th VDI conference deals with the diverse challenges of dismantling bridges in road and rail transport. Reports will be given on the latest strategies, concepts and methods of dismantling. We are there. As there are no generally applicable and complete guidelines and standards on the subject of bridge demolition, each demolition must be considered individually. The VDI conference ‘Dismantling bridges’ will provide practical assistance in this regard.
Our engineering office is also involved with a report: Our team leader for civil engineering, Dr. Felix Ockelmann, reports on the dismantling of the Finkenwerder Bridge. The partial demolition of the geometrically complex prestressed concrete bridge was carried out in sections above electrified harbour railway tracks. A particular challenge was to maintain traffic on the highly frequented harbour feeder roads (road and rail). Planning and execution are compared.
