What will become of the former American Consulate General?
20.10.2025 - The former Consulate General is being converted into the new Hotel Jefferson, taking into account the preservation of historical monuments!
Planning for existing properties in general and the development of projects directly on the Outer Alster in particular always require a great deal of patience and tact on the part of all those involved. After planning began for the future Hotel Jefferson in the former American Consulate General, many surveys of the existing building had to be carried out in consultation with the monument protection authority, variants for different concepts had to be developed and, last but not least, a large number of coordination meetings had to be held.
The demolition work on the security fences and checkpoints as well as the restoration of the road space for the cycle route along the Outer Alster are already well advanced and will be completed this year in preparation for the construction work.
