28.06.2023 - Today, the German Electron Synchrotron (DESY for short) celebrates the topping-out ceremony for its new switchgear building.
The new switchgear building has been under construction on the DESY site for six months. The completion of the shell of the first construction phase was now a reason for celebration for the building owner and all those involved in the construction.
The function of the new building will be to supply the many scientists with power for their experiments at the DESY research site at Hamburg-Bahrenfeld.
The associated transformer enclosure, which is clad with a lamella facade and will serve as a future “hide-out” for the new 90-ton transformer, is still under construction until about the end of the year. A three-storey extension of the switchgear building, the statics for which have already been calculated in, will also follow. Then there will be two more reasons to celebrate.
