11.09.2023 - August saw the start of work on preliminary measures to secure the building pit and excavate the soil.
The coop is developing a multi-section building complex in the east of Kiel for its head office. It is planned to incorporate a variety of different types of apartments, modern and flexibly usable office space, areas for social services, a large REWE store and underground parking spaces. The large building block is accessed by a planned internal road.
Despite the countless constraints that had to be taken into account, arising from the architectural design and the multifarious demands of the usage mix, the structural engineers from INGENIEURBÜRO DR. BINNEWIES have developed a simple and economical form of construction which largely dispenses with elaborate retaining works and transfers the weight of the building into the Kiel subsoil at an optimised height.
